Hi, I'm Cal.
After completing my A Levels in Art, Media and English, I went on to Camberwell College of Arts where I undertook an Art Foundation. I specialised in Fine Art which allowed me to explore a wealth of different mediums such as Photography, Textiles, Installation, Painting, Spoken Word, Sculpture and Audio-Visual disciplines.
Upon the completion of this I went to Goldsmiths College where my degree again allowed me to experiment with Animation, Radio Production, Prose Writing, Photography and Documentary Making before deciding to specialise in Script Writing and Film.
In the subsequent years I have found a happy niche in the world of graphic design, specifically Logo and Branding.
Logo design has admittedly become a passion of mine. I love working with a client to establish what key themes they want their logo to convey, and then making sure I execute these ideas in as clean, unique and clear a manner as possible.
I have been able to utilise my background and exposure to the variety of creative mediums I've been involved with to create brands and designs that stand out from the crowd.
The renowned American graphic designer Paul Rand once said:
“Design, good or bad, is a vehicle of memory. Good design adds value of some kind and, incidentally, could be sheer pleasure; it respects the viewer-his sensibilities-and rewards the entrepreneur. It is easier to remember a well designed image than one that is muddled. A well design logo, in the end, is a reflection of the business it symbolizes. It connotes a thoughtful and purposeful enterprise, and mirrors the quality of its products and services.”
Creating a great logo for your brand often requires a lot of planning, thought and time. The effectiveness of a logo can make or break a company and plays a key part in establishing brands, especially in today's fast paced digital world. In the end, the primary aim of a logo is to point and identify to the consumer who a company is, in the simplest way possible.
